Who's On First?

I am extremely embarrassed. True story:

Yesterday, my husband flew to Iowa for a golf tournament. As he was arriving late, and his motel is in a rural spot, I called them to let them know of his late arrival and to please hold his room. And then the following exchange took place:

Motel Lady: so he will be getting a rental car in the morning?

Me: No, tonight.

Motel Lady: In the morning?

Me: Tonight.

Motel Lady: Yes, but in the morning?

Me: (trying not to be impatient) No, tonight. At the airport. When he arrives.

Motel Lady: But in the morning?

I paused at this point, wondering what the heck was going on. And then it dawned on me. "Oh dear," I said to the Motel Lady. "Are you saying, 'In Des Moines'?"

She laughed and said, "Yes, dear, that's what I've been saying."

So, who IS on first, anyway? :)
