Current etymology of "dude" places the term at 1883 as "fastidious man" (New York). However, I have read the journal of an ancestor who was an Oklahoma Sooner. He married a Cherokee maid (my g g great grandmother) and settled in Munday, Texas. The journal (the beginnings of which were written well before 1883) refered to "dudes". They were the cow-hands who drove cattle across the mid-West plains, possibly before the railroads inundated the area. Unfortunately, there was no explanation for the term. Could it be a misunderstood term like "gringos"? It has been thought that Mexicans called white cowboys gringos because of a song they would sing around the camp fire and to calm their often excitable charges. The song was "Green Grows the Grass". Just a thought.

You've been my favorite author for about 20 years. I just finished Domina! So many others I've read and continue to be entranced by each story. Although Domina was one of your first, I find myself wishing for more. Samantha, Mark, et al...such a compelling saga. It was as if I was experiencing each phase with the main character.
Thank you for your stories. (Turquoise is my second favorite stone.) There have been moments in my life when I was so very alone. Your books not only kept me company, they gave me hope and courage to maintain a forward momentum. You are one of the blessings I count when I count my blessings.
Keep writing, please! I'm on "notions" waiting for the next!
(BTW: "Wine. Please bring me more wine!")

HELLO BARBARA:
YOU MAY NOT REMEMBER ME FROM S.M. HOSPITAL SURGERY. YOU ONCE SAID "I AM JUST PASSING THROUGH HERE". HOW TRUE WAS THAT STATEMENT.
I HAVE FIRST EDITIONS OF ALL OF YOUR BOOKS. YOU SAID MANY TIMES, "WRITE, WRITE WRITE" THAT IS WHAT I AM DOING NOW AND IT IS FUN TO FEEL HOW MY CHARACTERS TAKE OVER MANY OF THE PAGES AND PERSONALITIE4S. I KNOW THAT YOU HAD THE SAME EDITOR FOR MANY YEARS AND YOU AWAYS SAID HOW WONDERFUL AND HELPFUL HE WAS.
HOW DID YOU FIND HIM? WHAT IS THE PROCESS FOR FINDING AN EDITOR THAT I WILL TRUST AND BE ABLE TO WORK WITH ?
I AM SO PROUD TO BE ABLE TO SAY THAT I ACTUALLY KNOW YOU.
WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE ANY ADVICE YOU WOULD SHARE WITH ME. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO START THIS PROCESS.
THANKING YOU IN ADVANCE. BARBARA HENNING

Dear Barbara Wood I recently bought an e-book version of The Blessings Stone. It was found to be full of typos and spelling errors, which I do not believe is your method of literature. I went through all the motions of factory resetting my reader and downloading all my books again just to find that the same errors exist. This was purchased from Kobo and the errors are so frequent that any pleasure I would find from reading the book is destroyed. I have been to kobo and I think it is beyond their capability to fix this problem, and I don't know if you have anymore ability in that area. I'm writing this note just to make you aware of the situation in the hopes that problems like this do not damage your sales. I hope you read this, I don't want a new book, I would just like to see the problem fixed by whoever has caused it. Thank you Bob Berry

I read The Prophetess some years back and loved it. It is so poetically and beautifully written! And it reflects my own beliefs so well. I would like to quote from it (excerpts from pages 377-379) in my new mini-novel. (I used the quote by permission some years ago in a sermon. But I wanted to get permission to use it again.) My book will be a not-to-be-published novel called "What's Next?" which I will share with friends. I would be happy to email you the manuscript as it now stands or after it is finished. If you need further information. let me know. I have three self-published novels -- see iUnivers.com for more. Cordially, Don Vedeler

Hi, I am reading The Diving! I love it! My father is very interested in reading it also. However he is blind and uses a screen reader for all of his computer interaction. Is there a way for him to be able to safely get a copy on line and be able to use his screen reader? I see quite a few copies on different websites. I am just not sure if I or he bought one if then that version would be just text with no images. Screen readers cannot read images. I love your books, and short of reading them over the phone or messages, he wont be able to experience your wonderful novels. Sincerely Harmony

Hello Ms Wood, I have only recently discovered you. A friend gave me "The Divining" for my birthday. I loved it. You bring history to life. I felt I was there. Your detail is amazing. I have ordered "Soul Aflame" from Amazone because I want to read the pre-quel.
All the best from South Carolina, Marcia :)

I'm in the car nearly one hour a day, so I like to get my 'reading' done in the audible format. I loved your "Virgins in Paradise" and was happy to see that audible.com now offers two of your books. However, I'd like to be able to read them in chronological order and wonder if others are in the works? Thanks for all the hard work you put into your writing. I love all the details and history.

Hi After all these years of having one of your books, which I bought at a carboot sale, because obviously it has my name on it. I have read it and enjoyed it so will be getting the others to read. What is funny is, we are moving this weekend and whilst sorting through the hundreds of books I have, my daughter came across the book Stars, now she knew the story behind why I had the book, but my twin sons now in their 20's didn't, so when my daughter shouted "mum you have to keep your book", my sons looked at me puzzled and my daughter showed them the book, they said when did you write this, at that point we had to laugh and explain that I had not written it, it was the fact it had my name as the author as to the reason I had bought it. Just thought you might enjoy this story. Take care xx

Hi Mrs. Wood, years ago a friend loaned me a copy of "Butterfly" and I loved it. It wasn't until a while later that I learned you also wrote novels under another name. It's so nice to be able now to tell you how much I love your books under both names. I think I have read them all. You take us to other places and you make your characters so alive. I will be looking for your next book. In the meantime I just want to thank you for giving me so many wonderful hours of reading pleasure. I don't know how you do it! All the best, Cathy.
