Dear Barbara, I have NEVER written to an author before, but I am compelled to write to you to let you know how much I am enjoying your books. Last March after returning from a trip to Morocco (my Egypt trip was cancelled due to the terrorism there), a friend told me I must read Virgins of Paradise Street. Well, I must say that I was HOOKED. Although I am not professionally involved with medicine I have always found it to be very interesting and I believe in herbs, crystals and other unexplained healing phenomenon. I thoroughly enjoyed the 'history of women doctors in Domina. I believe it to be all true and I was SHOCKED. Thank you for all of you books. You are truly talented as your books cover such a broad scope of topics. I am impressed by what appears to be VERY thorough research from the Muslum religion to computer chat rooms. You certainly ADD credibility to the woman's cause. Sincerely, Beverly L Haws University of Akron

i am an avid reader and usually work through authors until i read all that they have written and then have to search for a new author worth reading. that is how i discovered you i picked up perfect harmony off the new books shelf and enjoyed the book. i love suspense, mystery and adventure, i followed through with a second book, soul flame, and that is what has prompted me to find you on the web. i loved the book, just enough romance but not overkill with alot of real info and suspense, however i have a burning question ever since i finished the book yesterday and i can not get it out of my head, what happened to Ulrika? there is a story there i feel, about Wulf, Eriic and Ulrikas journey to find them. i just want to know what happened to her and how she got to where she needed to go. i am sure the book is old news for you but i searched today and did not find a follow up on the story line. however i did check out The Prophetess and hope it is as good as the others. thank you for your time.

I just finished Perfect Harmony, I read it in 2 days,I just couldn't put it down! This is only the second book I've read by you, Ms. Wood. The Prophetess was the first. That book made my book journal as one of the best I've ever read. It had just the right mix of history, romance and suspense. I'm looking forward to exploring some of your older books. This web page is a great resource. Thanks for your time.

I love your books and have been going crazy trying to find The Dreaming. I have read several others and just love the historical novel approach. Keep at I can't wait for the next one out. Can you help me get the Dreaming?

Hello, Miss Wood, I am a retired professional woman and I am thinking of putting my experiences in a book. I have no idea where to even begin. Are there any books you could recommend to a beginner? I love your books, I've read nearly all of them and can't wait for the next one to come out. Thank you. D. Andrews

Hi, Barbara, When last I e-mailed you, I was still searching for a publisher for my first, Left Bank. Although several houses have responded with glowing letters, including Stacy Creamer and Tom Colgan at Putnam and most recently Charles Spicer at St. Martin's who called it excellent and said he had several people read it and they agreed with his assessment, yet no contract! My question: I've revised the ending in response to a few of our rejection letters and now feel that the book is in it's optimum shape. At what point do I think about making a change i.e. different agent or whatever? I hate to impose on you, but I remember as a member of your class at UCR, that you might be amenable to looking at the finished product of one of your unpublished albeit determined and talented, or so I've been told, former students. In closing, continued great success and let me know if you have the time. David Colgrove, M.D. Redlands

Love your writing, especially The Dreaming as I had just spent 3 months touring Australia when I managed to get a copy of your book to read. Keep up the good writing. I have also read Domina, Vital Signs, Green City in the Sun and will try and locate some of your other titles to read.

Hi, Barbara. Is it okay to send out your manuscript to more than one agent at once?

I love your books. They are the only books I have ever read that really held my interest. I am still looking for a few of the early ones, but I have thoroughly enjoyed all the others. I would like to know of any other authors with similar styles.

Hi Barbara - I enjoyed spending the day with you last Saturday. As for today, it was absolutely miserable -- until I got home and rec'd your kind comments on page one of T4C. I even called my writing partner and read them to him as well. I especially value your comments because I so admire your use of language. A year or so ago, my partner and I sent our five or six professional query letters seeking an agent. We got one request for a hundred pages. The rest were rejections. I learned I like writing better than receiving rejections. I plan on taking another look at the book and begin our search again. I will let you know how the search progresses. During my self-imposed sabatical from the marketing front, I started a second novel. I am almost through with the first draft. Both works have been wonderful experiences. Like yourself, I love doing research. Sigh, if only someone would pay me to do it. I wish you all possible success. Best, Bob Rhodes

I have read everyone of your books. I can't even pick a favorite because each book has such a unique personality that it is hard to choose. The most unique is The Watch Gods. It is scary. It kept me on my toes when I read it. I am just waiting until you ready to write another.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed A Day with Barbara Wood this past Saturday (9/26/98) at UCR. We both enjoy writing, but John is the one with the more burning desire right now (mine is more of a flicker). After the class he was really enthused and felt that it was more than worth a day of this time. Thank you!!
