Dear Ms. Woods- All I can say is, wow. My mother first introduced me to your work when I was in seventh grade when she handed me a copy of DOMINA. From that moment I finished it I was anxious to devour the rest of your work. I thought I had, until recently. I was visiting a nearby town recently and I stopped by their library. Of course, I scanned the W's looking for your name, when I came across THE PROPHETESS. I immediately whipped out my library card and checked it out and am currently on page 89. And am anxious to finish the other novels I was unaware you had penned. All of your work has been monumentaly influential in my life. As an 18-year-old who is struggling with the never-ending decisions that accompany impending college life, it is so amazing to be able to escape to the world of your novels. The way you weave your stories...I can feel the Egyptian sands, smell the Kenyan soil, and see the Australian sunset. Your books have allowed me to travel to places that my checkbook (and my parents) will not permit! My personal favorite was GREEN CITY IN THE SUN. I read it for the first time in eighth grade and again as a sophomore. Although VIRGINS OF PARADISE is a very close second. I always wondered if you had heard of Wilbur Smith? Often times as I'm reading his work I see fragments of your influence (or is it the other way around?). Regardless, he is another of my favorite authors whose books I crave. Well, enough of my rambling...I just wanted to thank you for sharing your talent with us and to beg you to provide us with more! An avid, borderline obsessed reader- Courtney Davids P.O. My mother-in-law, two Aunts, and friends galore really enjoy reading your books.....our first and still favorite is: Virgins of Paradise, by far the best! I still have three to read, and am firmly of the belief that these are definitely girls books.....my husband read only one, your latest hard cover in black and gold, but did not like it?! I will read it myself and see if it is just a gal's thing, or what!

Dear Barbara, First I would like to tell you that I absolutely love your books. I am currently reading the French version of A secret affair - Un amour secret. I cannot help myself, I have to bring something to your attention: The French version is filled with spelling, typing and gramatical mistakes. I am a translator/revisor (in Quebec, Canada) and I think that it is totally unacceptable, especially for a writer of your calibre. Of course, I still enjoy reading it but my professional eye blinks more than often because of this inconvenience. Best regards, Josee Frechette Ortho-Pro enr. josee.frechette@sympatico.ca

Barbara Wood- I would just like to say that I am a huge fan of your work. I especially loved Domina, the first one I read. The Dreaming was a close runner up. Thank You for taking the time to write such great literature. April Pugh

Am I very slow, or is Barbara Wood Kathryn Harvey? I LOVED Butterfly and Stars. If you are in fact her, are the books that you write under Woods in the same style of writing? Could someone please email me with the answer. Thanks in advance....... Kylee

I found Virgins of Paradise on my bookshelf, not even remembering buying it! Talk about serendipity! I finished it on July 4th, and brought it to a party that night because someone else had to read it so I could talk to them about it! I read the prophetess the next day as I recovered from my hangover. For me, discovering a great author is like discovering gold. I can't wait to read all of your other books.

I came across the book Domina at a small hotel in Rome on a bookshelf in the lobby. I asked if I could buy it and was told that I could have it, as previous visitors left books they had read so others could enjoy them. I was just thrilled!. I read it and enjoyed it very much. Since my return home to the US, I have found and read Vital Signs and The Dreaming and am looking for others. I found them fascinating.

Dear Barbara, I'm delighted to have access to the Internet so that I can write these lines to you. Please excuse me for my mistakes. I'm a french speaking girl who learned english recently.I've read all your books that I can put my hands on and every time, it's a wonderful experience. From Domina to Perfect Harmony (which I'm currently reading), with The Prophetess, Green City in the Sun and the Australian lady, It's like travelling through times and spaces.I pray God (I'm christian) so that he continues to bless you and bless your work, as He did, obviously. I've never read books like yours. I swear. every time I get in a library, I check yours first And I thank God for the English language I understand, so that I can read your books at the source. I'll check your little library to discover your other treasures! May the Lord bless you Barbara Emeline.

I loved Green City and Dreaming. You are my female Michner! I always hated history classes but loved studying culture. Through your novels, I can experience culture and get just enough history to move the plot. I truly enjoy your novels and look forward to reading this new title about China. Will it fill in the gaps that the Joy Luck novels created? I'm Swedish. Any chance you will be writing something about the land of the midnight sun? Keep 'em coming. Thanks Lynn Moc

Dear Ms. Wood, 6-28-98 I just finished reading Perfect Harmony (at 3 A.M.). You should know that I also started reading it yesterday. As with all of your books, I couldn't put it down from the beginning. It was excellent. When I start a book, if I am not interested in it after the first 20 pages I put it down. As always, with your books, you have me hooked on the 1st or 2nd page.Anyhow, this book is up there with my two other favorites : Virgins of Paradise and The Dreaming. Thank you for you books. I look forward to your next one. Wendy Bar
