Hi Barbara,
I've just bought the French version of Daughter of the Sun and I was surprised to see that it is totally different from the English one. For one thing, there's no story of Morgana (20th century ) in the English version. Furthermore, the story of Hoshi'tiwa in the English version is different from her story in the French one (for example Ahote dies in the English one, not in the French one, there's no mention of White Orchid in the FRench one, Jakal dies lonely with only Hoshi'tiwa present, whereas in the English one, there's his dramatic death in the fire).
Why are these two books so different from each other???
cheers, sino and Merry X- Mas!!!

Dear Sino, Frin

Thanks for your post. You are correct in that there are 2 versions of this book. Barbara's American publisher at the time wanted only the ancient story and therefore Barbara expanded this story line. The translated copies have Barbara's original storyline which included a 20th century story. I hope that you enjoyed them both.

Dear Sharon,
thanks for your answer. Actually, I did love both versions. Can't imagine why the editor didn't want this exciting story about Morgana and her crazy aunt, but I also loved the extended story about Hoshi'tiwa. So,I didn't just read the book again but had a new one at that, too Laugh
Do you know whether there are more different versions of any of Barbara's other novels? I'm looking forward to your answer and I would certainly buy another French copyWink
Cheers, Sino
