In Barbara's latest BLOG, she talks about people who want to write a novel, but feel that time has passed them by. If you were to write a book what would it be about, where would it be set, what would your inspiration be, would you use a pen-name etc?

I actually tried a few years ago to write a book. I was inspired by Tolkien's work, the Celestine Prophecy (not sure of the authors name) and Charmed the television show haha. It was to be about witches, mysticism and fantastical creatures. Pure fantasy set in a magical world.

Then I got distracted and preferred to read someone else's work. If I were to keep writing it I would use my own name rather than a pen-name.

If I were to write a book ........ um ... I am actually working on three projects but they're all plays and no novels. I found that novel-writing is not my thing. I am easier with "just" dialogues and I suck at describing things...so. Ha!
The three plays I am working on are all kind of comedy-based and connected with music...so they're more like "revues" or so. However, one is about (winter) sports, one about religion and one about cooking. So the topics cover quite a range of themes. I like that. I must admit the religion thing is the hardest to do for it requires the most research, but I love the basic idea (which I won't tell) so I hope I'll bring it to an end someday... Tongue

I would LOVE TO have the skills to write a real good criminal story, but I am afraid I will never have the patience for that.

I would write a Science-Fiction novel starting by the last page and writing backward. Normally, at the end (that is, finishing with the first page) I should be 5 years younger.

(P.S.: I tried and it works).

Since a few Years i try to write a few short-storys about boys love.
I have mailed it to someone but they dont want it.
My boys are sometime the pure stereotype, like pink and in girls clothes XD
But sometime they are just normal guys who just want to find her love.
A couple of me (not yet in story) are aliens, but they dun now that they are the same race of aliens(the planet explode)
After a few things happen the feel the heartbeat from the other one, so theys see they are not alone in the univers ^^
If been inspirites to this from a german song "Vom selben Stern" (from the same star)
But since i dun now where i can send my sories i dun have written on them.

If you were to write a book what would it be about, where would it be set, what would your inspiration be, would you use a pen-name etc?

Having worked in the Corrections field for over 20 years now, with many of them working in correctional facilities from Death Row for Women on down to Community Corrections Centers (CCC) with Work Release inmates, I would like to write a book about the experiences I have had in this field. I have worked with geriatric, physically and mentally incapacitated, forensics, behavioral, and many other specific types of patients/clients/inmates. I have worked with inmates from all security levels in both male and female institutions. The setting would definitely be in or around a correctional facility...and my inspiration would be the females that I have worked with, more than likely. I would have to use a pen-name, but I haven't a clue as to what name I would select for me. I have a really wonderful, heartfelt and heart-tugging story that I would like to write relative to my last Christmas working with some ladies at a local CCC. I took some of them out, off the facility to go Christmas caroling (sp?) at the local VA Hospital, a nursing home and an AIDs/HIV home. I am sure that what transpired will be as enlightening and wonderful for readers as it was for me. I still think about that night and what happened and what it did for those ladies who names I cannot even recall...this night...shortly before Christmas...a true Christmas miracle happened for us. I hope it has touched their lives as much and as in a positive manner as it has mine. I have no idea of how to go about writing it though and was wondering if you still taught classes on line. I would make sure that I came up with the money for it somehow, because I really believe that this story MUST be told. Thank you.

If I would write a novel, it would be a Science-Fiction as I'm still a very big Fan of Stargate SG-1, Star Trek and the Spin-off from SG-1 Atlantis. (From the other Spin-off Stargate Universe I only saw few episodes till now)
